How to Assemble IKEA FRIHETEN Sleeper Sofa

Step-by-step assembly

1. 

   Step 1

   Stand the 2 end frames upright, keyhole fittings facing out.

   Step 2

   Lay the rail on top and fix it with 4 bolts (105107).

   Allen key 152057. Check the hole pattern as in the manual.

3.

   Fit the 3 slats under the rail, screws 100295 from the top.

   Middle slat 2 screws, outer slats 1 each. Allen key 100006.

   Turn the frame over — 2 people.

   Hold it at the end frames. From step 6 the manual shows the 2nd rail on top.

   Screw a plate (152096) and a bracket (152124) to each end.

   2 bolts (154571) each — the long ones. Allen key 152057.

   Screw in 2 bolts (105107) by hand — leave a gap under the head.

   Fix the 4 fittings (128843) to the end frames.

   2 bolts (154571) each. Wide end as shown in the manual.

   Screw a bolt (105107) into each plate and tighten.

   Screw 4 screws (100295) into the slats, then lay the frame down.

   Allen key 100006. Face down, as in the small picture.

    Cut off the 2 transport ties and throw them away.

    Lay the long bar into the mechanism at both ends.

    Fix the bar at each end with a bolt (105107).

    Turn the seat upside down and take out the packed parts.

    Place the back brace on the seat and fix it with 3 bolts (152122).

    Lower the frame onto the seat — 2 people.

    The keyholes of the 2 brackets go over the bolt heads.

    Slide the frame to lock the 4 bolts, then tighten them.

    Turn the sofa over (2 people) and pull the seat out by the strap.

    Hang the backrest on the frame, then fix it with 2 bolts (105107).

    Lay the board in behind the seat, white side up.

    Slide its back edge under the strip, as in the manual.

    Slide the armrests down onto the 4 fittings (128843).

    Keep them upright — do not tilt them on.
