How to Assemble IKEA FRIHETEN Sleeper Sectional

Step-by-step assembly

1. 

   Step 1

   Open the lid, stand the base on its end and pull the cover on.

   Unfold the loose cover first. Place its cut-out corner as in the manual.

   Step 2

   Fold the edges of the cover over the frame at the 4 marked places.

   See the close-up in manual step 2.

3. 

   Step 3

   Lay the base down again and tuck in the cover edge.

   Then close the lid.

   Step 4

   Join the two backrest parts with 2 dowels (108116).

   Step 5

   Push the chaise into the corner against the backrest.

   Step 6

   Screw 4 threaded rods (100033) into 4 sleeves (104864).

   Click the 5 mm Allen key (108490) into the handle (121030).

7. 

   Step 7

   Fix the chaise to the backrest with the 4 rods in their sleeves.

   Tighten with the handle. Never stand on the frame.

8. 

   Step 8

   Screw 2 brackets (122464) to the side of the chaise.

   2 bolts (105102) each — not 105109. Then close the lid.

   Step 9

   Tip the whole assembly onto its back.

   Underside facing you. Get help — it is heavy.

    Step 10

    Slide the seat section against the chaise.

    Two people. Its pegs go into the holes in the backrest.

    Step 11

    Screw the other 4 threaded rods (100033) into 4 sleeves (104864).

    By hand, as in step 6.

    Fit the armrest on 2 dowels (108116).

    Step 13

    Bolt the seat to the armrest and backrest with the 4 rods.

    The rods from step 11, tightened with the 5 mm key (108490) in the handle.

    Fix the seat to the 2 brackets with 4 bolts (105109).

    Use the Allen key 100092.

    Screw in the 7 legs (128865) by hand.

    Step 16

    Screw a hook (128857) to the chaise and to the armrest.

    2 screws (118878) each, with the Allen key 100006.

    Turn the bed base upside down and fit the 4 castors (111401).

    2 screws (109566) each.

    Screw a pin (117363) to each end of the bed base.

    2 screws (109566) each. The pin points toward the front.

    Stand the sofa up and push the bed base in underneath.

    Its 2 pins hook into the brackets.
