  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Allen key (included)

You’ll need: flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers, a hammer and a ruler.

Step-by-step assembly

  1. Step 1: Screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the 4 short post pieces. — IKEA LAIVA assembly

    Into the end with the holes, by hand with a Phillips screwdriver.

  2. Step 2: Push 2 wooden dowels (101339) in beside each cam bolt. — IKEA LAIVA assembly

    8 dowels in all. Check the holes on each piece face the way the manual shows.

    Lock each joint with a cam lock (118224), turned with a flat screwdriver. Don’t lift a post by one end.

    Fix it with 2 bolts (100214) and the Allen key. See the manual close-up for which shelf edge faces up.

    Fix it with 10 bolts (100214), 2 into each shelf.

    Keep each panel 5 mm (1/4") in from the edges. 8 nails (101221) in all.

    Wall screws and plugs are not included — use ones suited to your wall, with a washer (100823).

Tips & safety

  • Always fix LAIVA to the wall. Furniture tip-over can cause serious or fatal crushing injuries. Stand it straight against the wall, not leaning.
  • Max. 15 kg (33 lb) per shelf. As shown on the last page of the manual.
