How to Assemble IKEA HEMNES Bookcase

Step-by-step assembly

1. 

   Step 1

   Lay both side frames flat. Screw in 8 cam bolts (118331).

   Two at each end of each side, turned in with a Phillips screwdriver.

   Push 6 dowels (101350) into the 2 middle rails.

   2 on the face and 1 in the end of each rail.

3. 

   Step 3

   Fit a middle rail into each side. Fix each with 1 screw (100211).

   Tighten with the Allen key (100001).

4. 

   Step 4

   Screw a foot block onto the bottom end of each side.

   2 screws (100211) per block, with the Allen key.

   Screw the 4 adjustable feet (102728) into the leg ends.

   Push a dowel (101350) into each rail and stand the 4 rails on the side.

   Check which rail goes where — see the manual, steps 6–8.

   Insert 4 cam locks (113434) and turn them clockwise.

   Use the flat-head screwdriver.

   Screw 4 cam bolts (118331) into the middle rails.

   Stand the fixed shelf on the middle rail. Lock it with 2 cam locks.

   Cam locks 113434, turned clockwise.

    Push 4 dowels (101350) into the rail ends. Lay the other side on top.

    The bolts and dowels go into the holes of the rails and the fixed shelf.

    Four in the rails and two in the fixed shelf.

    Turn the frame onto its side. Slide in the upper back panel.

    Push it into the grooves, then up into the groove under the top.

    Lay the 4 shelves on the pins and supports and press them down.

    Slide each shelf in, lower it, then press down until it locks.
