How to Assemble IKEA TARVA Bed Frame

Step-by-step assembly

1. 

   Step 1

   Tap 8 long dowels (128780) into the four legs.

   Two per leg, on the inner side. Stop when 20 mm still sticks out.

   Push 22 dowels (101350) into the headboard rails and board.

   The board’s hole faces up — as shown in the manual.

3. 

   Step 3

   Fit both headboard legs and insert 4 barrel nuts (100514).

   Turn the slot with a flat screwdriver so it lines up with the bolt hole.

   Tighten 4 bolts (105330) with the Allen key.

   Push 4 dowels (101350) into the ends of the footboard.

   Fit the footboard legs with 2 barrel nuts and 2 bolts.

   Barrel nuts (100514) in from the top edge, bolts (105330) through the legs.

   Hammer a glide (102370) into the bottom of each leg.

   4 glides — one per leg.

   Stand the footboard up.

   Push both side rails onto the footboard dowels.

   Small screw holes on the inside, near the bottom edge — not the top.

    Fix the rails to the footboard: 4 barrel nuts, 4 bolts.

    Line up the nut slots with a flat screwdriver, then tighten the bolts with the Allen key.

    Stand the headboard up and push it onto the rails.

    The rail ends slide over its dowels. Two people make this easier.

    Fix the headboard: 4 barrel nuts and 4 bolts.

    Same as step 8 — nut slots lined up, bolts tightened with the Allen key.

    Screw the metal rails inside the side rails: 16 screws.

    8 screws (105307) per side, with the Phillips screwdriver.

    Pull the centre beam out to its full length.

    Hook the beam onto the metal rails, across the middle.

    Fix each end with a screw (117327) — 2 in total.

    Roll-out slats: fit 4 stops (10096286) with screws (105163).

    They keep the slats in place. Not used with a framed slatted base or a sprung base.
