How to Assemble IKEA BRIMNES Bed Frame with Storage

Step-by-step assembly

1. 

   Step 1

   Fit 2 cam locks (110630) and 2 connector bolts (110115).

   Both go into the end of one divider half. Turn the cam locks with the flat screwdriver.

   Screw a drawer runner (139505) onto each face of both dividers.

   3 screws (100365) per runner — not the 100359 ones.

   Push 8 dowels (101350) into the divider and spine ends.

   Use 101350 here — not 101345 or 101359.

   Slide both divider halves onto the spine, then lock 2 cam locks.

   The connector bolts pass through the spine. Cam locks 110630.

   Floor rails: tap in a felt pad (122628), add a cam bolt and 3 dowels.

   One pad underneath each rail. Then per rail: 1 cam bolt (118331) and 3 dowels (101345).

   Set the cross onto the floor rails and lock 2 cam locks.

   The bolts go up into the bottom of the dividers. Cam locks 110630.

   Screw 2 drawer runners inside the head and foot panels.

   12 long screws (102138), each through a spacer (110646). Check the CR/CL marks.

   Add felt pads, 114671 bolts and cam bolts to both end panels.

   4 felt pads (122628) in the bottom edges, 4 bolts (114671) and 8 cam bolts (118331) in the inner faces.

   Stand the head panel up and push it onto the spine and rails.

   Lock 4 cam locks (110630) in the spine and floor rails.

    Prepare both side rails: cam locks, dowels and a bracket.

    Per rail: 2 cam locks (114670), 4 dowels (101359) and bracket 121370 with 2 screws (100365).

    Fit the far side rail and lock it with the Allen key.

    Turn the cam lock at the head end, then fix the bracket to the divider with 1 screw (100365).

    Lock the cam lock at the head end and screw the bracket to the divider (100365).

    Push the foot panel on and lock all its joints.

    2 cam locks (114670) in the side rails with the Allen key, 4 cam locks (110630) in the spine and floor rails.

    Screw the slat supports inside both side rails: 16 screws (110789).

    The mattress should sit inside the frame — pick the support height to suit it (manual p. 25).

    Screw a beam bracket (116791) inside each end panel.

    2 screws (110789) each, centred.

    Fit the 4 rods (117228), check the frame is square, then lock them.

    8 screws (117327) at the rod ends, then 4 more in the middles. The sides must not bow.

    Lay the centre beam on the brackets and pull it out to full length.

    Fix 8 slat clips (191315) with 8 screws (105163).

    At both ends of each slat support and of the beam. Skip them for a framed slatted base (p. 30).

    Roll out the slats and tuck their ends under the clips.

    One roll each side of the centre beam.

    Now a drawer: 4 dowels (101345) in the sides, 4 cam bolts in the front.

    Lay the front face-down on the rug. Cam bolts 118331.

    Stand the sides on the front and lock 4 cam locks (119030).

    Use 119030/118224 here — not 110630.

    Slide in the bottom, add the back, tap in 4 screw-dowels (110519).

    The bottom goes into the grooves. Hammer the screw-dowels through the sides into the back.
